What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese healing practice that encourages the body to promote natural healing and improved function by inserting sterilized needles (as fine as a human hair) into specific points on the body. These acupuncture points stimulate sensory receptors that, in turn, stimulate nerves that transmit impulses to the brain. The brain then releases neurotransmitters and endorphins, the body’s natural pain-killing hormones. Because endorphins play a key role in the function of hormones, acupuncture often works well for many female health issues such as PMS and infertility.
