Mediator Release Testing

The Mediator Release Test differs from an allergy test because it tests multiple pathways and a huge range of foods.

Inflammation from food intolerance is the culprit behind most of our symptoms.

Figuring out our food intolerances and decoding how they might be affecting us can be a real challenge. Sometimes it’s hard to make the correlation between what we’re eating and the symptoms we are having. Our reaction can be delayed and/or dependent on the “dose” we’ve had of whatever it is that we’re sensitive to.

Something you ate yesterday could just as easily cause you symptoms today or tomorrow. The result is that figuring out what’s bothering us can start to feel like a life-long quest. The good news is there’s a way to figure out exactly what’s bothering you. It’s called the Mediator Release Test (MRT).

Some of the most common symptoms our patients experience from food intolerance are:

  • Digestive Issues & Bloating
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Acid reflux
  • Migraines
  • Acne or eczema
  • Chronic fatigue
  • Depression
  • Brain fog Flare-up of auto-immune symptoms
  • Joint pains

How does MRT work?

  • The Mediator Release Test differs from an allergy test because it tests multiple pathways and a huge range of foods.
  • The MRT gives you precise, actionable with results that are highly individualized and specific to your health and wellness.
  • MRT provides insights into inflammation provoking foods and food chemicals at the root of your symptoms, helps determine what foods are best for your body.
  • As the name would suggest, the Mediator Release Test measures how much mediator your white blood cells release by measuring the volume change in white blood cells upon exposure to different foods.
  • Mediators are the different kinds of chemicals in our blood (cytokines, histamine, leukotrienes, prostaglandins, etc.) that cause inflammation.
  • We send a blood sample to a laboratory that tests how your white blood cells respond to 140 different kinds of foods and 30 chemicals. When the results come back, we review them with you and help you implement changes.
